Pownce invites.

// July 29th, 2007 // 4 Comments » // Internet

Who wants a Pownce invitation? I got 6 left… Leave a comment and fill out the mail address, it won’t be visible on the site but I’ll see it and send a invite out. Pownce is the “new twitter”, made by a couple of people including Kevin Rose, the guy who invented digg.com. Cool shit there!

If you’re already on Pownce, add me as a contact!

flickr is now known as sevenload.

Now that flickr is (again) really completely blocked in China (or is it?), I decided to move away from it for good. Since I am german, the decision was easy: I went to sevenload. I also created an account with ipernity, but they seem to be too much of a flickr clone, which I simply don’t like (no really, it’s because they’re french). Sevenload offers me free hosting of images and videos which is exactly what I need. After my flickr pro account has finished, I will not renew it anymore. Instead, I will only upload to sevenload in the future. I will not delete my flickr account because there are too many images, so feel free to browse around, in my photographical past. Here are some new HDR images I made today. Hosted by sevenload.

Moving...

Yes, my life is in little boxes at the moment. We’re moving to our new apartment on saturday, and we managed to finish packing two days in advance. Thank god I have that german will to be best prepared. For a time I even wanted to put ‘I’m not handicapped, I’m german!’ into the header, but I guess that’d be too much. Anyways, the only things still standing now are our bed, obviously, and my computer. The rest is packed, except for toothbrushes and small stuff like that. It was no pleasure packing in the Shanghaian heat, but what can you do… On the bright side, our new apartment simply rocks. But more about that later. When I have pictures. Until monday or so, I’m out. Hope I got the ADSL by then.

My computer, my programs.

HDR 01 - My Desktop. Gotta clean it sometime...

Reading about other’s people computer and software is always fun, so why shouldn’t I share my system information and software with you? Maybe nothing in this entry is new to you, but maybe you’ll find something you didn’t know before. Maybe you recently switched to Mac system and you want to know about cool software? Who knows! Let’s get started. This is my setup, as in the picture above: I got a Apple PowerBook G4 with 17″ from 2005 (yeah, I don’t have the money to witch to a new system every year…), additionally I got a 250 Gigabyte sized external hard-drive from Maxtor, a Mighty Mouse, a Logitech headset for Skype and Sharp stereo boxes - for music, what else! What I do? I create web-sites (for fun, mostly), edit images, create video pod-casts and lots more.

Downloading

That earthquake in Taiwan really makes my life a living hell: Just take a look at that loading bar. Horrible!

Hell feels exactly like this, I guess.

On the ‘bright’ side, the full speed should be back in two weeks. According to some China Telecom press release or something.

I hope they tell the truth, as I am unable to work on my websites with full power…

And it’s damn cold here in Shanghai. Damn, damn, damn!
